Being ME Coffee therapy Ramadan Prep
It’s been over a week since the Ramadan Coffee therapy session at Showtime Bistro.
I promised to put up the handouts on the blog..I meant to put it up in a couple of days but was unable to because I’m trying to finish products for the Being ME bazaar. I;m selling some Ramadan Decor and Eid Gift items for my Mabrook Moments business Insha’Allah.
The event went well Alhamdulillah. Unfortunately the day before the Ramadan talk, I had a super busy day.
My parents and us siblings hosted a Sip n’ See for our brother and sister-in-law’s first child. Here are some pictures. Please keep baby Eesa and his parents in your duas.
The day of the Sip n’ See, I was on zero sleep. I wanted at least two hours but when my Fajr alarm went off I realized that I was just lying in bed fully awake. I managed to function semi-normally but on a social level I wasn’t great company. My blood-shot eyes and delayed responses probably scared the guests.
Sip n See for our nephew
Oh well,at least the tea-sandwiches turned out..that’s all that matters right?
So back to my story.. on the drive to Showtime Bistro I was going over my talk with Shaheen and Fareheen (both of them are super eloquent public speakers by the way), I kept messing up and forgetting my points. I started freaking myself out. I mentally listed all the reasons why I was going to fail (yes I know not the smartest move).
I was a wee bit nervous (read freaking out and contemplating jumping out of a moving car so I wouldn’t have to talk) because the exhaustion from the day before left me like an unprepared zombie with a hangover. (more…)
So..Ramadan is about 2 months away..are you ready for it?
Some of you might think it’s too early to start getting Ramadan ready but truth is I should have started writing about it 4 months ago. The Sahabas (RA) used to start preparing for Ramadan 6 months in advance. Why? Because they understood how valuable every single second of this blessed month is and didn’t want to waste a moment.
Think back to last Ramadan. On a scale of 1 to 10 how satisfied were you with your worship? Did you change for the better once Ramadan was over? Was there anything you wish you had done differently?
Ramadan is our annual Spiritual Boot Camp. It is a time in which we cleanse our bodies and souls through fasting. We purge and detoxify them so that we can recharge our engines for the rest of the year. Ramadan is our chance to have our previous years’ sins forgiven and to have every single good deed we do to be multiplied by 70! As you can see, it’s far too important to waste a second.
The purpose of this post is to identify factors that prevent you from having the optimal Ramadan experience and to come up with realistic solutions. Insha’Allah this will be your best Ramadan so far!! (more…)
Salaamz dear Readers!
I wanted to apologize for the fact that I have been barely posting once a week or responding to your lovely comments – it is all my husband’s fault.
He’s typically pretty awesome- not the controlling type. He never really comes out and tells me to do something. He’ll definitely beat around the bush, but it’s very rare for him to directly demand anything of me. I’ve always thought I was very blessed to have a democratic relationship.
Anyways… I guess I ‘thought too soon’ because one day he completely turned into one of those ‘because I said so’ husbands. (more…)
