My week with Mortimer’s and Give Away for one lucky winner!

Salaam!

I’m the type of person that proudly shares that I got my shirt for $6 or that the gourmet tasting cookies are actually made from a box . I just have such a thrill finding bargains while shopping  or short cuts to recipes that I must share with anyone I encounter. I am the kooky lady talking to strangers about random tips and tricks.  Today’s post is about my latest ‘find’, trust me you’ll love it too. Especially when you find out the  give away associated with it!

The moment I heard about Halal meat pies that are ready to eat within minutes, I knew  we would be BF’s..but I had no idea we would be BFF’s ( yes, I’ve been hanging with my little cousins a tad too much).

In the past a ready to go meal was always a compromise between eating something with meat and flavourful but stinking up the lunchroom or inconspicuously eating some bland macaroni without attracting extra attention. Mortimer’s Halal On The Go immediately piqued my interest.. HMA Certified Halal meat?, Convenient? Wholesome ingredients? No MSG and artificial flavours? But it must not be flavourful. I immediately agreed to test them out and have not looked back ever since.

Mortimer’s Pies are Perfect for the Whole Family

Within five minutes of receiving the frozen pies, my in-laws, toddler and I were enjoying the Mortimer’s Halal On The Go pies. They were not bland at all. Though the Chicken Pot pie was my favourite, the Butter chicken was also full of flavour without being spicy or too curryish. Since then I’ve been pulling these conveniently wrapped pies several times a day.

Actually it’s more my husband than anyone else. It’s part of his routine now; as he’s getting his jacket on, there’s always a pie warming up in the microwave to accompany him as he leaves. No need for a plate or container, the pies come in a convenient package to microwave in and eat from.

Halal On The Go in Mr. Raja’s Neighbourhood

The reason why I said the pies are more my BFF’s than Bf’s is because of how helpful they are.

Remember a while back when I wrote about my surreal neighbourhood full of do gooders relentlessly competing with each other to be the best neighbour on the planet? Well, thanks to these pies I’m kind of in the running. Ok fine I don’t gather ingredients from my organic- pesticide free garden in the backyard and whip up a hearty stew every time I hear someone is under the weather, but I do have some sort of delicious and healthy food to share.

Within the past 2 weeks of trying out the Mortimer’s Halal Pies on the Go, I have been able to participate in some pretty stellar neighbourly acts. Instead of taking just flowers when visiting someone at the hospital, I took along a few of these pies for them. Not only did they find them tasty, they appreciated that they could keep them in the freezer and eat them when convenient.

Mr. Raja’s neighbourhood is infamous for it’s last minute party’s and get-together’s. Recently there was a spur of the moment pot-luck brunch; typically I would have declined the invitation because I couldn’t come up with an item to share . This time I was ready with these delicious flaky meat pies. I cut them in half and served them on a pretty platter. No one was the wiser, well not until I started bragging about how they take about a minute in the microwave to prepare..sigh.

Last but not least, I get annoyed with my son for inviting friends over without permission or asking for permission right in front of them. My biggest hesitation with having his friends over is thinking about what to feed the kids. Kids can be such picky eaters and I hate letting his friends leave with an empty stomach. Thanks to these pies, I’m the cool mom for once. Woohoo.

Giveaway Time!!!

All in all these pies exceeded my expectations. I was excited to have something with halal meat that was ready to eat in a minute without the over powering curry aroma. These pies enabled me to hold my head up next to the super neighbors of Mr.Raja’s neighbourhood, socialize and be a cool mom.

Your future BFF can be found in the frozen aisle at FreshCo, Chalo FreshCo, Longos, Grocery Gateway and Sobeys. If for some reason they don’t carry it, simply ask the Meat Manager to stock it.

I’ve never heard of these pies but I think I would really benefit from them. These would be ideal for mornings when one gets up late and has to rush to school/work. Much better than a Tim Horton’s bagel lol.

These would be so handy to feed the kids when running last minute errands or even for a snack after soccer practice.

    I have liked both pages.
